RMS Africa believes that a stable IT environment, supported by effective processes is a must for any company that wants to excel. Available Standards, Frameworks and Best Practices provide clear guidelines on what and how that can be achieved. But these also have a complexity attached to it that requires a smart approach to be successful in realising a final deliverable.To meet these challenges, RMS Africa does not merely follow Standards, Frameworks and Best Practices blindly, but rather use it to prove strategic benefits. RMS Africa utilises a consulting methodology that combines these in a logical sense, mapping them against each other and thereby complementing them into one logical model, in line with the requirements of the customer environment.

Some recent projects include:

 

  • Annual audit reviews of approximately 100 Disaster Recovery plans at a Life Insurance company

  • Assessment and implementation of an IT Governance Framework for the Group IT Division of a power utility 

  •  A full Business Continuity lifecycle implementation, including Policy, Business Impact Analysis, Strategy and Plan Development for a Transport Operating Company

  •  IT Governance Framework implementation, using CobiT and King III as references for Fund Managers for an Infrastructure Development Fund

  •  A Disaster Recovery Functional Maturity Assessment at a Cell Phone Service Provider

  • Quarterly IT Governance training workshops for the South African Institute for Chartered accountants (SAICA)

  • Development of an ICT Governance Guideline for the South African Local Government Association (Salga) which represents more than 278 municipalities across South Africa

 

Other notable projects include:

  • Developed and implemented Information Security Management Frameworks in a number of organisations (strategies, policies, standards, procedures and controls)

  • Audited IT Architectures against Information Security Frameworks

  • Conducted Risk Assessments either as part of Information Security or Business Continuity requirements

  • Performed Governance framework assessments by measuring IT performance against strategic intent

  • Advised on and assisted with the implementation of IT service management practices which ensured the delivery of the level of services required to meet the client’s objectives

  • Conducted full Business Continuity lifecycle implementations, in a number of organisations, ranging from small to large

  • Facilitated many workshops and training courses, and addressed various conferences on IT Governance, Security Management and Service Management

RMSAfrica have been active management consultants for many years. By focusing on the integration of CobiT and King III with other Best Practices, more specifically ISO 38500, ISO 27001, and ITIL V2/3 into a maturity model, we provide a wealth of insight and understanding on practical issues of IT Governance, Information Security Management, Business Continuity Management and Service Management disciplines. Contrary to traditional “silo” consulting within these areas, the strengths of each of these process areas are delivered through RMS’s value-based consulting methodology. Hands- on experience has shown that business will only proof successful once all independent factors influencing the success have been taken into account.
